Nestled in the serene landscapes of Nimbin, our retreat centre is dedicated to fostering personal growth, healing, and spiritual connection. Gardener / Landscape Care Role

​​Location: Flourish Sanctuary, Nimbin
 
Reports to: Custodian
 
Summary:
Flourish Sanctuary is seeking a dedicated and passionate person to help with gardening and landscaping to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a deep appreciation for nature and a strong commitment to enhancing the beauty of our retreat centre’s gardens and landscapes. This role involves a variety of tasks including planting, weeding, pruning, and general landscape maintenance to ensure a serene and welcoming environment for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and care for the gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas of the retreat centre.
  • Plant, water, and nurture a variety of plants, flowers, and trees.
  • Prune shrubs, trees, and plants to maintain health and aesthetic appeal.
  • Weed and manage invasive plant species to preserve the integrity of our native flora.
  • Implement and manage irrigation systems to ensure optimal plant growth.
  • Monitor plant health and treat pests or diseases as needed.
  • Assist in planning and executing landscape improvement and preventative maintenance projects.
  • Maintain gardening tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Collaborate with our Custodian to develop and implement sustainable gardening practices.

Skills:
  • Proven experience in gardening, landscaping, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of plant species, soil health, and landscape maintenance techniques.
  • Ability to use and maintain gardening tools and equipment.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Passion for nature and a commitment to sustainable gardening practices.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Willingness to support major events upon request.
 
Benefits:

Building Maintenance and Cleaning Role

Location: Flourish Sanctuary, Nimbin
 
Reports to: Custodian

Summary:
Flourish Sanctuary is looking for reliable and skilled person to help with building maintenance and cleaning to ensure that our retreat centre’s facilities are well-maintained and clean. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general maintenance, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our guests and staff.

By helping with building maintenance and cleaning, you will ensure that our facilities remain safe, clean, and welcoming for all who come here seeking peace and rejuvenation. Your attention to detail and dedication to maintaining high standards will create an environment where guests feel cared for and at ease. This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of our guests, contributing to their overall experience and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as painting, minor repairs, and carpentry.
  • Identify and address issues with the structure and functionality of buildings.
  • Conduct regular cleaning of common areas, guest rooms, and facilities to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Handle waste management and recycling processes.
  • Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are well-stocked and maintained.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with our Custodian to prioritise and schedule maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe environment for everyone on the property.
 
Skills:
  • Experience in building maintenance, cleaning, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Attention to detail and a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
  • Reliability and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Willingness to support major events upon request.

Flourish Sanctuary exists primarily to serve the people of our community. To date, we have proudly not taken any government grants or corporate money and are totally independently funded. Everybody who works on the property is an unpaid volunteer apart from our cleaner, but they do get to live on this sacred land. Black Sheep Farm and Compassion Temple are operated by volunteers of Flourish Sanctuary. Our purpose is people, not profits.
