Rooted in the tradition of Guru–Shishya Parampara, this gathering honours the classical Indian model of learning through direct transmission — where knowledge is shared orally, experientially, and through close engagement with master musicians.
Rather than fast-track certification, this format supports deep listening, disciplined practice, refinement of technique, and immersion in the living tradition of Hindustani classical music. This special Masters Edition brings together internationally touring maestros alongside leading Australian classical musicians for a rare opportunity of close musical study, guided performance, and advanced raga exploration in a relaxed intimate retreat setting. Featured International Maestro🎶 Sangeet Mishra
7th / 8th Generation Sarangi maestro from the Banaras Gharana, Sangeet Mishra hails from one of India’s most respected musical lineages. Trained under his grandfather Pt. Narayan Das Mishra, and further guided by Pt. Bhagwan Das Mishra and Pt. Santosh Kumar Mishra, he is recognised as a child prodigy and a leading exponent of both the tantakri and gayaki styles of sarangi playing. Rooted in shastriya sangeet traditions, Mishra blends classical purity with contemporary collaboration, performing extensively across India and internationally as a soloist and accompanist. Now based in Mumbai, he is widely sought for recitals and cross-genre musical dialogue and has toured Australia many times making him a well known and loved player. 🎤 Supriyo Dutta One of the leading vocalists of his generation in Hindustani classical music, Supriyo Dutta is celebrated for his emotive mastery of khayal, thumri, dadra, and bhajan. Trained under Pandit Ramkrishna Basu (Indore Gharana), Padma Shri Pandit Vijay Kumar Kichlu, and Vidushi Subhra Guha, and continuing under Padma Bhushan Pandit Arvind Parikh, his international career spans India, Europe, the USA, Australia, and China. He is also an educator, filmmaker, and cultural ambassador dedicated to the global dissemination of Indian classical music. Be prepared to have your mind blown by his incredible vocal capabilities, understanding of fine musical details and techniques to unlock ones own range. Shivam Rath (Host) Shivam Rath, Byron Shire-based slide guitarist and curator of Soul Sangeet and Raga Retreats around the globe. A second-generation Indian-Australian musician, Shivam integrates traditional raga training with yogic philosophy and meditative practice. Having studied in Varanasi and Kolkata under respected maestros including Pt. Chhote Lal Misra, Dr. Shibbanath Bhattacharya, and Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya, he has spent over a decade performing and teaching internationally as well as composing and producing music for himself and clients in various fields of styles and world music genres. His approach views music as both artistic expression and transformative sound practice. Accompanying the retreat space on tabla is Rodney Wright, who studied the Banaras tradition of tabla in Varanasi under his Guruji Kedarnath Bhowmick throughout the 1990s. He has performed at major Australian festivals and music events and is widely respected for his dedication to developing and sharing music through the language of tabla. His playing reflects both traditional discipline and an open, collaborative spirit, helping to keep the group activities locked into the Tala (rhythmic) cycles in realtime during the weekend. 🐦 Early Bird pricing available until 15 June 2026.
